Description
Every organisation communicates internally and externally via different media formats that include documents, email, fax, Instant Messaging, voice and video. Typically each of these formats requires their own specific client on your chosen device, which could be a desktop PC, laptop, PDA, mobile phone or something similar.
Microsoft Unified Communications brings all these different media types together into a single client that can surface on multiple devices. Unlike other solutions that integrate data and voice, it does NOT require you to rip and replace your existing PBX. Instead a media gateway enables it to communicate with the Microsoft Unified Communications platform using Voice over IP (VoIP) both internally on your LAN and externally via a standard Internet connection. This integration allows presence information to be displayed in Microsoft Office 2010 and 2013 applications enabling you to make informed decisions about the most appropriate format to communicate with someone.
