Application Description
The main purpose of the client is to monitor incoming and outgoing chat traffic, alerting the parent if there is any concern for the child’s safety. The parent can then respond via Email or SMS with an action that they
would like the application to perform.
The server side runs on a SQL server backend which hosts a client side error reporting database, a data warehouse (for the tracking of forensic information collected from client side alerts), and the application management
database (for licence and user tracking).
- Monitoring Service
The monitoring service is responsible for the interception and collection of chat traffic.
- Analysis Service
The analysis service is responsible for the analysis of traffic once it has been collected, and the sending and receiving of alerts and responses.
- Server Side Communications Service
The communication service is a .NET web service and is responsible for sending alerts and receiving responses to and from the parent.
- Licensing Service
The licensing service is also a .NET web service and is responsible for generating trial licences, activating full licences and validating existing activations.
- Database
The databases run using SQL Server 2005.
