This four-day course is a mix of in-depth instructor led training and hands-on labs where you will learn about the new features, server roles and components included in Operations Manager 2007 R2. This class begins with an introduction to Operations Manager 2007 R2, what’s new with the product, followed by a detailed architectural discussion that explains how to design your Operations Manager 2007 R2 environment and details how all of the communication occurs between components. Next students will walk through an advanced installation of Operations Manager 2007 R2 and learn how to install the database, Root Management Server, additional Management servers and deploy agents. Once the setup is complete, the students will perform critical post installation configurations. Attendees will also learn about the new health model that Management Packs are built upon and key changes to maintenance mode. The discovery of non‐Windows servers and devices is also explored as are overrides, diagnostics and recoveries, notification configuration, and the Command Shell. This course will also guide students through the installation and configuration of a gateway server and certificate services.
With the knowledge of the architecture and server roles and a functioning Operations Manager 2007 R2 environment, we will then dive into all of the components that make up a Management Pack. In addition to learning how to create attributes, rules, discoveries, monitors, tasks and views, you will also learn how to configure the following Microsoft Management packs:
- Windows Base Operating System Management Packs (Windows Server 2003/2008)
- Active Directory Management Packs
- Exchange 2007 R2 Native Management Packs
- SQL Management Packs
- Solution Accelerators and Third Party Solutions
