Pathways to Green4Good IT Asset Disposition
Many organizations do not have a plan for managing asset retirement and disposition, especially from the environmental and data security perspectives. As a result, they leave decommissioned hardware sitting idle in storage.

The Problem
Organizations looking at asset disposal are generally focused on recycling, in a vain effort to keep equipment out of landfill here or abroad. In the United States, the Environmental Protection Agency estimates that 87.5% of e-waste is still ending up in landfills or incinerators.

The Solution
For decommissioned assets, Compugen’s Green4Good IT service offers a cost-effective, environmentally sound alternative to recycling – Refurbishment & Resale. Compugen is a Microsoft Authorized Refurbisher (MAR) and can re-license refurbished PCs with genuine Microsoft software at a competitively attractive price point.

Many decommissioned PCs still have value and are refurbished and tested by Compugen and then resold to companies, school boards and retailers. The process consists primarily of wiping all data and previously installed software and repairing and/or replacing defective hardware components. It also includes installation of a new Windows operating system, either the latest version of Windows 7 or Windows XP Pro depending on customer choice, and the addition of an official MAR sticker from Microsoft, all in accordance with the terms and conditions of the MAR program.
Participants may use the net proceeds from the resale to offset their disposition costs or donate the proceeds to Compugen Finance’s Green4Good program for use in providing cash and new technology products and services to charities.
