This four day course is a mix of in‐depth instructor led training and hands‐on labs where you will learn everything you need to create custom management packs in Operations Manager 2007 R2. This class begins with an overview of management packs in Operations Manager 2007 followed by a look at the different tools available for management pack authoring.   Next, the students will learn details about the XML that makes up a management pack, and discuss management pack best practices. At that point, it is time to begin creation of a custom management pack.  Using a real-world, “popular” application, students will step through each phase of the management pack development process, with the end result being a production quality management pack that can be used in a production environment.  During this process students will learn about the different areas of management packs, including object discovery, groups, monitors, rules, tasks, and views.

This course also dives into the reporting aspect of Operations Manager 2007.  Students will gain an understanding of the reports that ship as part of Operations Manager. They will learn about the data warehouse, and how to create custom reports against the data warehouse, enabling them to drill down to the information they find valuable.
