Pros
The amount of Features / Functions delivered under a single platform and admiministration console coupled with the powerful reporting and forensics with audit trails that are built into the solution are second to none. A single hosted platform that offers; -Security -Policy Management -10 year bottomless Archiving -Outlook Integration -Business Continuity (for Outlook, Blackberry and Webmail) -Email Stationary and Disclaimer Management -Strong chains of custody for legal cases and can be implemented in as little as 1 day without the need for long installation lifecycles and hardware / software capital investments.
Cons
There is a significant lapse in the time it takes for Mimecast to release support for the latest products, e.g. full integration services for Outlook 2010 & Exchange 2010 has not yet been released but is slated for the near future. The necessity to publish Active Directory / open LDAP ports to a Domain Controller on the Firewall will be seen as risky by many entities out there, an agent operation with outbound connection would be more acceptible.
