Everyone has heard of the ‘cloud’ - but how many actually know how it can benefit their company?
The whole subject of cloud computing can be confusing and knowing what’s best for your business in this area can be difficult.
Essentially the ‘cloud’ means “non-proprietary” - you don’t have to own, store or maintain the hardware and access to these non-proprietary systems is via the internet and they can be accessed from anywhere, so you are not tied to one location.
Don’t let all the marketing confuse you, the cloud comes in many, many forms and not all are appropriate. In fact, it’s this type of mixed messaging that is leading to a slow adoption of the cloud concept.
Moving to the cloud is an important infrastructure decision and you will need to know which type of cloud environment is best for your organisation, and when you should be considering it.
Reasons for considering the ‘cloud’:
- Your infrastructure needs a re-fresh and the associated costs are a bit upsetting
- You’re looking to upgrade to the new Microsoft 2010 software applications, but the costs of the licenses are prohibitive
- The cost of the hardware and the resources required for a new IT service are high
- You need your IT resources to be dedicated to value-added activities and not spending all their time simply supporting the IT environment.
These are just a few examples where we’d recommend that you at least consider cloud computing.
Business Agility is a professional services company that specialise in a Hosted SharePoint. We have been working with SharePoint since its inception in 2001, and we have a deep understanding how this flexible environment can be configured to meet requirements for many types of businesses across every industry.
If SharePoint is a solution you are considering, and you are interested in understanding how this solution can be delivered, possibly through a cloud delivery model, then speaking to us first and exploring the ‘art of the possible’ would be of great advantage.
