Ecosense is one of the first sustainability dashboards to be hosted exclusively on the Cloud. Targeted at office-based companies, it enables employees to track and measure their work-related emissions from their desktop. Ecosense aims to increase climate change awareness among staff and management.
Office buildings account for 19% of all commercial energy consumption. Daily commuting contributes to the global transportation emissions that accounts for one fourth of total greenhouse gas emissions. Ecosense is based on the idea that small changes in our everyday environmental behavior can make big changes in a company’s CO2 emissions footprint. Ecosense is designed from the ground up to involve all employees in the process, thus helping to change their eco-behavior and increase their climate change awareness. Ecosense therefore becomes the center of the company’s emissions reduction strategy.
Indice chose to implement Ecosense as a SaaS solution delivered through the Azure platform because of its tight integration with processes, tools and frameworks already used to deliver the company’s offerings.
Ecosense is fully integrated with Azure, using SQL Azure, blob storage and appfabric for distributed caching. Microsoft LiveLabs Pivot is used for business intelligence on the CO2 data, with JIT analytics and rich visualization capabilities.
