Azox E-Commerce Solution the Perfect Pairing for Fine Wine Distributor

Like a fine wine, Azox, Inc. and its e-commerce capabilities are continually improving with the passage of time. That fact makes the Michigan-based company an ideal complement for Selected Brands (SBD), a distributor of fine wine and spirits, in Deerfield Beach, Florida (near Fort Lauderdale).

SBD needed to add a sales portal on its website to create a more efficient system for order entry, inventory control, and invoice generation and tracking. But the project stalled when SBD’s software vendor couldn’t provide an adequate solution.

 

Pinpoint Connects SBD with Azox

SBD searched Microsoft Pinpoint, and after sampling the profiles of several e-commerce vendors, the beverage distributor selected Azox, a Microsoft Gold Certified Partner and strategic independent software vendor (ISV).

SBD primarily serves small-to-midsize wine producers that rely on the distribution channel to develop brands, build strategy and deliver goods. What sets SBD apart from other distributors are its out-of-the-box marketing ideas to help its wine-producer customers compete against larger competitors.

Giuseppe Ianni, Azox director of sales, says, “When SBD first contacted us, they made it very clear that they expected the same kind of out-of-the-box thinking from us in creating a new web portal.”

Ianni says that from the beginning SBD was impressed with the capabilities of GP and that
positive customer comments about Azox on Pinpoint helped the company quickly gain credibility. SBD gave Azox the go-ahead to implement eSource and eCatalog and create its new e-commerce portal on the web.

 

From Scattered to Centralized

SBD serves retailers and restaurants throughout Florida and offers a high quality product portfolio that features diversity by price, geographic regions, and varietals.

The company had outfitted its sales team with the latest laptop technology to access inventory and to place orders from the field. The final piece of the proverbial puzzle was the web portal that would enable everyone—sales personnel, customer service specialists, and internal management—to gain access to a centralized database of real-time information.

Prior to working with Azox, SBD’s data was scattered in various databases or in paper files.
Finding any specific piece of information—a customer’s order status, for example—was a laborious, time-intensive task. As one SBD employee puts it, “People needed to have a little bit of Sherlock Holmes in them to effectively work within the prior system.”

 

The Azox Solution: Harnessing and Extending Dynamics GP

During the implementation of eSource and eCatalog, the Azox project management team worked closely with the SBD web-master and inventory manager. This close collaboration reduced deployment to just 10 weeks. The web portal is built on the Microsoft .NET framework, which integrates with multiple tools and technologies, speeding the development of applications.

Ianni says, “Our solution harnesses everything that GP offers and extends it seamlessly to a web platform. Creating an order-entry function on the web is perhaps its most important benefit.”

“Now dozens of sales people can do order entry via the web portal and there are no software licensing restrictions. It’s become much easier and faster for placing customer orders, looking up previous orders, or even printing invoices,” he adds.

The SBD sales team can quickly find particular types of wine by using multiple search criteria and narrowing down its selections with rapid efficiency. After the web portal was configured, the Azox project manager coordinated training sessions to instruct SBD how to effectively maintain the site.

Of course, the big question is: How has the web portal from Azox impacted the SBD bottom line? And the answer is: “Amazingly well.”

“Our sales have consistently increased over the past year, and the Azox sales portal has been a key component to our success. Information flows quickly and smoothly in every direction. And the Azox support staff is extremely knowledgeable and quick to respond,” says Terri Froelich, CEO of SBD.
