Pros
CPI is great! We've had a wonderful experience with them. They're quick, responsive, and knowledgeable.
Cons
No complaints with regard to their work. We've had trouble with their accounting but it's been easily resolved.

Pros
What do I like about CPI? (please note, i'm reviewing the web development division) Pretty much everything, from their state-of-the-art facilities, to the entire web dev team, to the end product that I receive. I am a web dev myself and have enlisted CPI to help build some of the more complex DB tools and tasks of the network I'm building will require. Overall, the experience has been great and I'd be fearful of moving things anywhere else. CPI cares about their (your) work and they always seem reachable. The app we're building is quite ambitious in scope and webtechs employed, and I was fearful going in that it all might fall apart at some point, but it hasn't. In fact everything works solidly and as originally specified. I consider myself lucky and glad that I was able to find CPI for my project - for it could be in far worse hands, considering the complexity of the app being built.
Cons
I wanted to give CPI five stars, but couldn't due to one area: time. My project is in seven phases and, on average, it takes over one month just to get a specification document out. The actual building usually takes longer and this has pushed the time taken to beyond what I ever expected. I suspect the problem is that CPI is either slightly understaffed in webdev, or that they just have too much of a workload for clients to get things done faster, or that my project was grossly under-estimated (time-wise) against to their workload, or maybe its a comination of all of these factors. While this is undersirable, I have come to accept it, because when the CPI's work is done, it is of very high quality and it works as planned. This alone, to me, is worth the cost in time. This is really my only gripe. Everything else with CPI's web division has been great. If you go with them, your project will be in very good and capable hands, have no fears about that.

Pros
As soon as we started on the NetManage program with CPI, our network uptime and performance has improved and stabilized significantly. My employees now have real time access to CPI’s support desk with quick resolution to irritating desktop issues. Needless to say their support desk is very responsive and all of their engineers have been top notch. CPI is now a critical part of keeping our day to day operations running smoothly. Thank you CPI!
Cons
I do not like to be put on hold when I call to a support line. However, it does not happen often.

High Quality Development Team and Work Product

Pros
We retained CPI to build a mission-critical custom application for our company. CPI agreed to a resonable rate/price, scoped our project thoroughly (which we had reviewed by another application development firm) and built a very clean, user-friendly application pretty much exactly as we envisioned. As with any complex project, a few miscommunications and disagreements arose. And since these problems are inevitable, we judge an application development company not by whether a problem arises but rather how they handle it. And in CPI's case, we were always able to have a rational discussion about the situation and come to a mutually acceptable solution. To me this is the key. An ambuguity is going to arise in the scope or in the contract. So you have to have trust that the company you are dealing with is reasonable and fair. We found CPI to be both. We are now contracting with them for a new project.

Any complaints I had were adequately addressed by CPI.

Thx for a complex app which works correctly, works fast, & looks great!

Pros
1. CPI took on my project. The system CPI built for me is a very complex piece of software. Three of the five vendors we asked to bid for this work declined to bid; mainly, I think, because they were put off by the complexity of the project. CPI is a good place to go if you have a complex project. 2. They finished my project. The did not walk away from my work when we got to hard parts; and they never told me that they could not do what I wanted them to do. Furthermore, they never made me feel bad about asking for complex functions or just for making a given function work more fluidly. 3. They delivered a complex and ambitious application which looks great, works fast, works correctly, and can be used easily and intuitively. 4. They provided a high level of customer service in terms of understanding and delivering what I needed as well as providing encouragement and instilling confidence throughout and especially at just the times when it was needed most.
Cons
Point #5 under, "What did you like about CPI?": 5. Developing a significant application takes software engineers who work earnestly and hard and, ultimately, put a lot of heart into their work. It matters who you work with. I highly recommend Chris, James, and Pete, the three main CPI software engineers who built my application. "What didn't you like about CPI?": 1. Their initial estimate of the level of effort required for my project was overly optimistic. Although the level of effort required to complete my project was higher than initially expected, it is important to note that the independent third party software engineers I hired to help me evaluate CPI’s work from a technical perspective were always satisfied with the quality of the company’s work as well as with the number of hours billed given the functionality delivered.
Additional Comments
Remainder of, "What didn't you like about CPI?": 2. There were a couple of times when I asked CPI to handle something in a way which was outside of their usual process. The first involved the structure of our contract and the other involved skipping an intermediate step and going straight to line by line programming. CPI acceded to both of these requests but should, in retrospect, have done more to convince me to stick to their standard protocols. 3. One of the CPI software engineers who worked on my project did not make adequate progress for the number of hours for which I was charged. Although this modestly increased the time it took to complete my project, CPI fully reimbursed me for the cost of these unproductive hours and eventually dismissed this programmer. Additional comments: I am picky and hard to please and I still like CPI and plan to continue to work with them.
