The System Center Configuration Data Protection Manager (DPM) Pilot engagement helps establish a clear understanding of how DPM will function in the client’s environment. It includes a description of the core features and functionality of DPM such as protection agents, volume shadow copy, data replication, and backup options. This engagement provides clear goals and objectives of a DPM deployment and an architectural design plan for implementing DPM.

The DPM Pilot engagement includes a lab - built on the client’s hardware - on which the necessary components of the DPM 2007 platform will be installed and configured to meet the objectives of the engagement. This engagement will provide the client with a Pilot group of 10% of their overall server, not to exceed 50. This Pilot will then be the springboard for a full production build out.
