DFSR reduces risks associated with WAN network outages and risks associated with branch office server failure. It reduces costs associated with branch office setup and management and increases collaborative opportunities across all business sites. It enhances remote access functionality and reduces the cost and management of systems backup.

The centralisation of data and core systems is a strategy long proven to be of value to any business that seeks consistency across all areas of operations. Distant geographic locations demand that either additional zones of IT management are established at remote site offices, with all the costs and human resource implications associated with that, or the centralisation model is diluted.

JASCO has deployed solutions based on DFSR, which have extended to remote sites local file and print services for maximum performance, ensuring that all business data is available and under the control of the central zone of IT management. In the event of a total WAN outage, local file and print based services can continue uninterrupted until such time as the WAN service can be resumed. This also minimises the risk of data loss, and ensures that the impact on staff productivity is minimised. Because all local file services are replicated, the risk of business impact when the local server experiences an outage is also greatly minimised, as services are automatically deployed over the WAN until such time as the local server operation is resumed. While performance in this failover mode is not optimal, the impact on staff productivity is again minimised.
