Microsoft Codename "Social Analytics" is a new SQL Azure Labs incubator project, which enables developers to integrate social web information into business applications with the Social Analytics API, which is based on the Open Data Protocol (OData) and delivered through the DataMarket on the Windows Azure Marketplace
The Microsoft Codename “Social Analytics” WinForms Client Sample project is a .NET 4.0 Windows Form client intended to demonstrate how to consume the Social Analytics API's OData stream and summarize important trends of social "buzz" and consumer sentiment about products, brands, or persons. The default data stream consists of current Tweets about Windows 8 from the VancouverWindows8 dataset. (Project "Vancouver" was an earlier codename for "Data Analytics."
The main form contains a DataGrid which, by default, displays selected properties of ContentItem entities. A multiple line graph displays "buzz" (tweets per day), sentiment (positive and negative Tones per day), and Tone reliability (positive and negative) trends.
The application creates an Excel-compatible comma-separate values (*.csv) file. Columns are Published On, Tweet Count, Tones Positive, Tones Negative, Reliability Pos(itive) and Reliability Neg(ative).
You can download the application's .NET 4.0 C# source code from OakLeaf Systems' SkyDrive account. The SocialAnalyticsWinFormsSampleReadMe.txt file provides Setup and Deployment details. Compiling or modifying the application requires Visual Studio 2010 SP1 or Visual C# 2010 Express SP1.
